The 2015 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Reading Main Event has ended and with big surprise Raul Martinez has come out on top as the new champion. He was able to remain chip leader throughout the event, ever since Day 1a. It was a long battle, but it ultimately paid off as Martinez walked away with his name among the champions, as well as £25,250 in winnings.
It was an intense final table, but Martinez went head to head against Hui Jin, where they both went all-in. Jin had pocket Fives, offsuit, while Martinez had an Ace-Seven offsuit. It seemed like Jin had the advantage until the Flop turned over Ace-Four-Two, giving him an edge. The Turn was a King and the River was a Seven, sealing the deal for Martinez.
It was intense, and in the end, the final four decided to make a four-way deal to split the winnings, so it showed good sportsmanship and skill during this year’s GUKPT. The final table results are:
Place | Player | Prize |
1 | Raul Martinez | £25,250* |
2 | Hui Jin | £24,000* |
3 | Harry Dukes | £17,200* |
4 | Julian Davies | £17,500* |
5 | Andrey Veselov | £6,690 |
6 | David Lloyd | £4,840 |
7 | Florian Andrei | £3,970 |
8 | Aaron Biggs | £3,340 |
9 | Lee Boran | £2,860 |
*reflects a four-way deal.
The next stop for the GUKPT will take place in Leeds from July 26 to August 2. For more on the poker tournament and its schedule, you can check it out here.
